Privacy Policy
The Nota is a mobile ledger for small businesses. This policy explains what information we collect, why we use it, who processes it for us, and how you can control or delete it.
Who we are
The Nota operates the The Nota mobile application, the website at getthenota.com, and the supporting API. Questions about privacy can be sent to proragab@gmail.com.
Information we collect
- Account information: mobile number, verification status, account identifiers, and login sessions.
- Business profile: business and owner names, country, currency, timezone, and optional email, address, or store image.
- Ledger content you enter: customer names and mobile numbers, debts, payments, due dates, payment methods, notes, reminders, and related transaction history.
- Technical and security information: IP address, request and error logs, device or app information sent with requests, and security events needed to operate and protect the service.
- Support communications: information you include when you contact us.
The app does not request access to your device contacts, does not collect card or bank credentials, and does not use your personal data for third-party advertising. If you add a store image, the app receives only the image you choose through your device's photo picker, not your entire photo library.
How we use information
- Authenticate you by verification code and keep your account secure.
- Store, calculate, display, back up, export, and synchronize your ledger across sessions.
- Send service messages and customer payment reminders when you ask us to.
- Provide support, diagnose failures, prevent abuse, and improve reliability.
- Meet legal obligations and enforce our rights.
Service providers and disclosure
We do not sell personal data. We disclose only the information needed to providers acting for us, such as cloud hosting and database providers, cache and infrastructure providers, and OTP or messaging providers such as AWS or Meta/WhatsApp. They process data to deliver the service under their own security and privacy obligations. We may also disclose information when lawfully required or to protect users, the public, or The Nota from fraud, abuse, or security threats.
Customer data entered by merchants
A merchant controls the customer and ledger details they enter. Merchants must have a lawful reason to record and use that information and must not use The Nota for unlawful or unsolicited messaging. If you are a merchant's customer, contact that merchant first about their records; you may also contact us for help.
Retention and deletion
We retain account and ledger information while your account is active. When you delete your account, the active account, business profile and store image, customers, debts, payments, reminders, notifications, and login sessions are permanently removed. Limited records may remain temporarily in encrypted backups or where retention is legally required, and are isolated from ordinary use until expiry or deletion.
You can delete your account in the app or follow the instructions on our account deletion page.
Security and international processing
Data is encrypted in transit. We use access controls, authentication, managed infrastructure, logging, and operational safeguards designed to protect it. No internet service is completely risk-free. Providers may process data in countries other than yours under appropriate safeguards.
Your choices
You may access and correct business details in the app, export ledger data, stop optional notifications, or delete the account and associated data. For access, correction, objection, or privacy questions, email proragab@gmail.com from an address or phone-associated account we can verify.
Children
The Nota is a business service and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly create accounts for children or collect their personal data.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service changes. We will publish the new date here and provide additional notice when a material change requires it.
